Deleted Scenes

PEDRO AND ME began as a very different book. Originally it was a series of anecdotes. They were taken from the journals I kept while touring and lecturing on AIDS. The journal entries were written to Pam.

As the book developed, this format was abandoned, but I believe that a couple of these stories still hold up. Once again, THESE AREN'T IN THE BOOK! The art isn't particularly strong, and the lettering isn't so hot, but they've got something I thought I'd share.

All of these stories are true.

The Soup Lady
A funny story that doesn't relate at ALL to the final draft of the book.

AIR TRAVEL FUN #2
Two Guys Named Ray
Another funny story that only related a little, but still didn't belong in the book. The tone was wrong. I must add that this was written and drawn before KING OF THE HILL came on the air. That fact should go to show how close to reality Mike Judge's show really is.

The last part of this story is in the book. It's interesting how these things develop.

This is part of an interview I gave. Illustrated. I include it here because some of the points discussed are still relevant. More so now with all the reality television on the tube.

LIMITATIONS
This is the only story here that almost was a part on the book. My editor, Marc Aronson, and I, agonized over it. The sentiments in it are very important to me and I'm happy that I'm able to share it.
